Exchanging business financial information using Inline eXtensible Business Reporting Language (“iXBRL”) as the global digital reporting standard, is encouraged by the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (“CIPC”).

Since mid-2018 all qualifying entities such as companies, close corporations, co-operatives and others, have to submit their annual financial statements (“AFS”) in an iXBRL format.  iXBRL offers comprehensive business validation tools, enabling entities to benefit from and to improve the overall quality of reporting.

A document generated using the iXBRL format enables its users to view it in both machine- and human-readable formats, which can be viewed in a browser.
