Excellent, clear and logical article by Sikonathi Mantshantsha, deputy editor of Financial Mail on what is wrong with SAA, compared to Comair, a private sector airline operator.

Comair has paid more than R350m in the past two years in income tax, only to see it drained away to finance SAA.

SAA has not paid any taxes in 23 years.  It has instead received more than R57,000m in bailout funds from the taxpayers!

It now has about 20% of the domestic and international passenger traffic in/out of SA and is scheduled to make significant cuts in order to survive.  Will probably drop to about 15% share of traffic.

Who needs this?
